Full Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Journey to the Sahara - Marrakesh to M'hamid
​Depart from Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains and Ouarzazate. Passing Ait Ben Haddou, and the Draa Valley the longest valley in Africa. Continue through the Low-Atlas to Mhamid, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Overnight in Mhamid in a hotel/riad of your choosing.
Day 2-5*: Desert caravan trekking

*Day 2: Draa River & Sidi Naji (Trek: 5-6 hours)
After breakfast, meet your desert guides and camel caravan. Trek along the Draa River through palm groves and ancient mud buildings. Lun Ras Nkhal, then continue to Sidi Naji, where you’ll camp near small dunes.
*Day 3: Zahar Region (Trek: ~4 hours)
Trek through flat, plateau-like terrain that transitions to rolling sand dunes. Reach the remote Zahar dunes (the highest dune in Morocco) by lunch time. Explore the "singing" dunes and enjoy panoramic view and sunset. Camp at the dunes.
​*Day 4: Erg Smar (Trek: 5-6 hours)
Cross the Draa River bed to the abandoned settlement of Erg Smar. Discover ancient agricultural plots, mud buildings, and desert well. Camp under tamarisk trees in this unexpected oasis.
*Day 5: Erg Chigaga Great Dunes (Trek: 5-6 hours)
Head to Morocco’s longest sand dune field, Erg Chigaga. Trek through increasingly challenging dunes, arriving by lunch. Spend the afternoon exploring the vast dunes. Optional wild camping available.​​​
Day 6: Erg Chigaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Marrakech
​​After a hearty breakfast, bid farewell to the desert and begin your journey back to Marrakech. Cross the vast Sahara for three hours until you reach the vibrant village of Foum Zguid, where you’ll stop for lunch. Continue onwards to Taznakht, renowned for its intricately woven Berber rugs, before completing your epic adventure in Marrakech. The memories of your desert odyssey will stay with you long after you leave this magical land!
